Yeah, the B58B30O1 () seems to be generally the worst sounding variant, and it’s the 382 hp version that’s making its way into everything. Even then, US-spec cars are allegedly much louder than EU cars. It’s well-documented for the X3, which sounded deliciously manic up until 2019, then it got the power bump and now it still sounds good but just not quite as good. I have a 2020

They changed the exhaust a bit, but the engine changes to increase horsepower did not equate to more noise.

I think they sound good. I had some time in a X3 M40i last year.
